Summary: The article thoroughly explains the types, concepts and purposes of fake news and its impacts on people through media, especially social media. Since fake news spreads fast and widely and gains lots of profits (money) through people who might be their victims, people receive untrue stories and misunderstandings. Therefore, the article provides multiple ways to spot which news is fake, such as finding out which organization publishes the story and who the author is (are they reliable), the look of the design is a good way to spot it, the moral of the story (does the story sound logically make sense), which source it cites, where does it come from and how often do they report it? From these ways, you can easily spot the news you are reading, whether true or fake.

Reaction: Since Social media and the internet have become mainstream news outlets for many people these days, the number of people who use them is increasing each year. We live in the information world, full of either true or untrue. So it is essential to be properly well-informed by both authenticated and trustworthy ones.

Questions: Is there any authority in charge of eliminating fake news outlets? If so, how could they deal with the problem? Are they strict enough? what could they do to strengthen or build on their authority?

  1. First of all, I appreciate the way you paraphrase all the statements into your own languages and it is more comfortable for the readers who got some point of misunderstanding from the original manuscript. I agree with your perspective on the reactions that fake news has had a huge impact on social media users over the last few years and most of them are not always reliable, beneficial and useful.

I would like to try to answer one of your curiosity questions that you have written on top. I wondered if there is any social media platform security development for protecting real users and automatically delete or report fake news by itself before it goes viral. As a result, I believe we would have fewer fake new outlets that are safe for us.

    Thank you for sharing, Max!
